Uppers, Mucurapo in 19-19 n-ball tie

THE netball “babes” again provided the excitement in Port-of-Spain Netball League action at the Lystra Lewis Courts, Princes Building. M&M Insurance Uppers put in a spirited second half rally in Saturday’s game to earn a 19-19 tie with Mucurapo Junior Secondary in the Barbara Chandleur B1 Division. Adonis Nicholas led the “schoolgirls” with 11 goals from 16 attempts and Shinelle Bailey had eight of 17 and for Uppers, Samantha Joseph scored 15 of 22 and Sherneeka Williams four of seven.

In another thriller, Gems just held off Malta Carib Senators 15-13 with Alicia Alexander scoring 10 of 17 attempts and Jasmine Kirton five of 10.  For Senators Amina Glaudd got eight goals and Alicia Stewart five. Defence Force remained unbeaten in the Pearl Francis Championship Division, getting full points when Mucurapo Ex-Pupils defaulted their game. Champions Police continued to stalk the leaders, however, with a 54-41 triumph over Arima United. Beverly Hernandez scored 23 of 31 attempts, Euphemia Huggins 18 of 28 and Allison Matthews 13 of 14 for the policewomen, while Janelle Barker netted 37 of 49 attempts and Sophia Blackman four of eight for the Arima girls.
