Angry mom charged for beating son at station
A WOMAN who became enraged yesterday after the police prevented her from beating her teenaged son in the Fyzabad Police Station was arrested and charged with disorderly behavior and resisting arrest. The 46-year-old woman of John Jules Street, Fyzabad, was taken before a Justice of the Peace where she was granted $1,000 bail to re-appear in the Siparia Magistrates Court today. The woman was contacted by officers around 1 pm, shortly after her son was arrested for hitting a female schoolmate with a soft drink can on her head, on Wednesday.
The female student of Fyzabad Composite, accompanied by her mother, reported the incident to the police yesterday. Some 20 minutes after officers contacted the boy’s mother, she was in the station slapping her son. When the police intervened, the woman started acting in a violent manner and repeatedly pounded the counter top. After ignoring several warning by the police to behave herself, the woman was arrested and subsequently charged by Cpl Flanders.
