Veterans, Lendore clash in KO final

FIRST CHOICE captured the Big Four title in the Lendore Village Football League. First they shut out Dodgers 2-0 on goals by Cedric Paul and Ancil Gooding. But they were edged by Strugglers 3-2 with Wendell Campbell scoring a hat-trick for the winners. Paul grabbed a double. But First Choice rebounded with a 2-1 triumph over Veterans to clinch the title with Paul and Cliff Aberdeen scoring one goal each, and ex-Strike Squad skipper Clayton Morris getting the only goal for the “Vets.”

The Veterans earlier drubbed Strugglers 5-0 with Roger Lawrence scoring two, Gerry John, Leo Whilley and Jerome Salandy one each. Veterans will have another chance to lift a trophy in the league when they meet Lendore Sports in the knockout final today. Kick off is 4 pm. The “Vets” edged Longdenville In Action 1-0 on Brian James’s goal in their  their semi-final, while Lendore Sports scored a similar victory over Dodgers with Alvin Boisson scoring the winner. Expected at today’s presentation of prizes function following the final are Joan Yuille-Williams, Minister of Community Development and Culture; and Satish Ramroop, Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education.

Other Big Four scores — DODGERS (3) Jason Valley 2, Keron Beckles vs VETERANS (1); DODGERS (1) J Valley vs STRUGGLERS (0).
