Road racing pedals off today on Foreshore

This year’s Road Cycling Season gets a kick start from Heatwave Cycling Club and Phillips Promotions. They team up today to stage the  Heatwave Summer Cycling Challenge 2004 which is carded to begin at 7 am at the Foreshore of  the Mucurapo Freeway.

The three weekend partnership features top local road cyclists in three categories — Veterans Open, Senior Open and Junior Open — competing against each other and serves as a vital warm-up ahead of the National Road Championship later this year. A point system will be used and the riders with the most points in their group will win their category. There will also be primes for cash prizes at different points on the course.
