Scale Road residents cry for help

THE EDITOR: Scale Road, Transfer Village, Boodoo Trace, Debe is privately owned by the now defunct Caroni (1975) Limited. However, residents living in this area have had to undergo tremendous suffering, neglect and inconvenience over the years. Because of the deplorable condition of Scale Road, it is inaccessible to garbage trucks, water trucks, TTPost and even private vehicles. On May 24 2004, Caroni dumped loads of mud to fill open areas on the road. Not much imagination is needed to picture what a horrible mess the area is presently in.

The residents of Scale Road feel that, as law abiding citizens who pay taxes, they are deprived of the basic amenities needed by all human beings. On November 21 2001, letters of complaint, with attached signed petitions from affected villagers, were sent to the Member of Parliament Mrs Kamla Persad Bissessar; to the councillor for the area Mr Premchand Sookoo; and to the Property Manager, Caroni (1975) Ltd. To date there has been absolutely no response. We are appealing to the powers that be to kindly assist us so that we too, the residents of Scale Road could live just normal lives.
