Netshakers cop Laventille Under-20 football trophy
PORT-OF-SPAIN Netshakers Football Club lifted the Shannon Paul Challenge Trophy after an unbeaten run at the P&B Soccer School Shannon Paul Fundraiser, at the Laventille Community Complex recently. According to Netshakers coach Curtis Orr, the team displayed brilliant and attractive football due to the fact that they were the most composed and technically organised team during the day-long competition.
Orr, who recently graduated from a CONCACAF Coaching Licence Course at the Dr Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence, Tunapuna, used his coaching expertise to good stead as he perfectly marshalled his troops throughout the tournament. The tournament, which was in aid of former national youth player Shannon Paul (currently undergoing treatment for bone cancer in the United States), also featured teams such as the P&B Coaching School, W Connection, Cap Off Youths, RSSR Soccer Academy, Trendsetter Hawks. The Netshakers team also had reason to smile as Mark Latapy was adjudged the “Most Valuable Player” of the tournament.
But the team is currently seeking sponsorship to participate in a Summer Invitational Under-20 competition in Barbados. Orr is urging any interested companies and persons to contact the team’s secretary Astral Clarke at 627-2288 or 750-8751, or at the team’s training grounds at Princes Building Grounds, Port-of-Spain on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3.30-5.30 pm, and Saturdays from 9 am to noon.
