Criteria for talk shows

THE EDITOR: Re-cently I rang one of the radio talk shows to explain that there is no such thing as “a criteria” that criteria is the plural of criterion. One talks about one criterion, two criteria etc. I thought that the gentleman on the show knew this elementary fact, and that it was an unfortunate (but continually repeated) slip of the tongue.

I am now hearing that one of the gentlemen seems to be saying that I said “criteria” is not a word. If this is so, he doesn’t even understand what I was talking about. And he boasts that this show is heard abroad?
