Fire, Connection, Jabloteh U-14s, U-16s in winners’ row

ARIMA/MORVANT Fire, W Connection and CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh were all in winners’ row as the Under-14 and Under-16 divisions of the T&T Pro League continued yesterday. In a doubleheader at the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground, Fire crushed North East Stars 7-1 in the Under-14 category and followed it up with a 6-0 thrashing in the Under-16 division.

Chad De Freitas led the way for the Fire’s Under-14 outfit with six goals — in the 16th, 17th, 20th, 35th, 58th and 60th minutes after Hakeem King had opened the scoring with a 14th minute penalty. Victory in the Under-16 match at Sangre Grande meant that Fire retained their lead in the seven-team standings, with two goals apiece from Akim Armstrong (28th and 70th) and Kevon Piper (46th and 90th). Sean Ramdoo (54th) and Hakeem Phillip (71st) chipped in with one each. Connection’s Under-14 squad had a narrow 3-2 win over Starworld Strikers at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella with items from Anthony Parris (39th), Jamerson James (46th) and Shandon Winchester (50th).

Matthew Bartholomew notched a hat-trick, in the 17th, 22nd and 56th minutes, while Bevon Bass struck in the 80th and 83rd minutes, to give Connection a 5-0 triumph in the Under-16 encounter. One other match was contested yesterday, with Jabloteh’s Under-14 team maintaining their  advantage in the group after a comfortable 4-0 win over South West Drillers at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground. Micah Lewis netted twice for Jabloteh while Franz Husbands and Keon Blackman contributed one each.
