Family escapes as truck crashes into parked car
A 37-year-old Cunupia woman and her four children narrowly escaped injuries yesterday, when a runaway truck crashed into a car which was parked in her yard. Wendy John told Sunday Newsday if the car was not parked in the yard, she and her children could have been killed. John explained that she was asleep with her children ages 12, 11, nine and four, when she was awakened by a loud, crashing sound.
On checking, she saw a truck crashed against a car in her yard. John said she grabbed her children and moved them to another room. She then spoke with the driver of the runaway truck who explained to her that he got a “bad drive,” struck a Galant which ended up in a river, and then crashed into the car in her yard. A report was made to the Cunupia police and officers are investigating. John said that the driver has promised to repair the car and was awaiting word from his insurance company.
