JUNIOR JOSEPH continued to dominate local model car racing, when he steered his way to a double victory in the Castrol Mitsubishi Evolution 7 Rally Car Competition at Long Circular Mall, Port-of-Spain, recently. Joseph, Scalextric Cham-pion of Champions for the past three years returned a score of 78.7 to edge out the top flight’s newest addition Clive Griffith who scored 77.6. Lorne Marshall had 76.2 to take the bronze and Peter de Montbrun was fourth on 73.8.
Joseph completed the double when his three souped-up Blue Formula One Epsons scored 79.7 points to beat Ian Savary (72.9) to win the Castrol Scalextric Modified Car series, with Nicholas Findlay (66.8) third and Colin Johnson (48.8) fourth. Tracmac’s Neverson Davis presented trophies, medals and gallons of Castrol GTX Motor oil to all finalists. Joseph will lead a Trinidad and Tobago team to the Scalextric Caribbean Cham-pionships in Georgetown, Guyana sponsored by KLIM from August 6-10. Next on the scalextric calendar is the Endurance Cars Competition in the 5-14, 15-85 and Champion of Cham-pions categories on July 31 at the same venue.
