Ramcharan, Noreiga girls t-tennis final

PRIYA Ramcharan will face off against Kerry-Anne Noreiga in Wednesday’s girls’ singles final of the Solo Classified National Table Tennis Championships at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex. In yesterday’s semis, Ramcharan dropped the first set before coming back to defeat sister Nirveeta 8-11, 11-9, 11-8, 13-11 while Noreiga cruised past Alicia Jones 11-7, 11-9, 11-9. Reigning national women’s singles champ Aleena Edwards teamed up with brother Aaron to advance to the mixed doubles final. The Edwards duo overcame a tough challenge from Lionel Darceuil and Shelly-Ann Wilson to prevail 11-13, 11-5, 11-7, 11-6 while Courtney Pugh and Shelly-Ann Parris defeated Reeza Burke and Natalie Montes 12-10, 12-10, 8-11, 11-8 in the other semi. Matches in the preliminary round phase of the men’s and women’s singles were underway up to press time last night.
