TT woman footballer in US League

NATIONAL woman footballer Tasha St Louis is now a member of the New Jersey Wildcats in the United Soccer W-League. The 20-year-old midfielder joined the club a week ago and was expected to make her debut on Saturday last against the Long Island Lady Raiders. A member of the Trinidad and Tobago women junior and senior teams since 2001, St Louis was a member of national champions Caridoc Stingrays in the domestic league and was named “Player of the Year” in 2002.

The W-League which began in 1995, was the top women’s league in the United States until the WUSA came into being in 2001.  But after the 2004 season, the WUSA folded only to return on a smaller scale with the W-League now being the premier women football  league in the US.
