Please forgive him

The Editor: I have known Prime Minister Patrick Manning for many years and I can attest  that he is not normally prone to descending into gutter politics. Like him, I will call no names, but I think that he succumbed to the pressures of defending a certain Minister causing him to snap and utter some unfortunate remarks about a former Minister of Education. Please forgive him, he is only husband — oops, human!
