Gene Samuel Academy top Lucozade Adventure event
THE SECOND and third stages of the Lucozade Sport Adventure Race Series, a six-hour event which incorporates trekking, orienteering, kayaking and mountain biking, will will be staged in central Trinidad at a location to be announced. The Gene Samuel Academy won the first leg of the series, offering $20,000 in prizes, in Chaguaramas on April 17 in a time of 3:51.27. They edged out Dirty Old Men 2, who finished 3:52.26, by nine points 100-91 with Just For Fun third in a time of 3:52.38 and 83 points.
Race Two is open to 50 two member teams, male, female or co-ed, X-Trail, Geronimo’s Cycle and Sports Centre are among the sponsors and the series is managed by Eco Adventures Limited, who introduced adventure racing in Trinidad and Tobago two yesrs ago. They also designed the course for the very successful British Gas Energy Challenge which recently raised $800,000 for charity. A very exciting second leg is in store this weekend and teams are encouraged to register early at Geronimo’s’s Cycle and Sports Centre, Woodbrook and Corkie’s Cycle Centre, Boissiere Village, Maraval, to secure their spot.
