Fast Company shines in drill

FAST COMPANY continues to show good form on the gallop course and is expected to give a good account of himself  in the West Indian-bred three-year-old race on the Arima Race Club Day 21 programme at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, tomorrow. The son of Freshly Squeezed/Afternoon Delight has been a model of consistency and should he maintain his good run could earn his upkeep in the 1300 metres event. Trained by Chester Roberts, Fast Company who will be ridden for the first time by Rajpaul Rajkumar, earned respect leading up to tomorrow’s race which include some classic contenders by blazing the 600 metres trail of the exercise course in 35.79 seconds on Wednesday morning. This performance was highly rated, as it was bettered over the past two days, only by Invincibility, who in having the better of  The Chairman and Perfect Gem who posted 35.76 seconds also on Wednesday.

Man Of Class who will be among the line-up in tomorrow’s Allowance spotlight race on the Arima Race Club’s 10-race programme, also showed his well being. The Maniram “Boboy” Maharaj-trained six-year-old was “under wraps” throughout his 600 metres spin with stablemates Java In Style and Joint Venture, but still managed to earn a “good’ for his time of 36.75 seconds. This Cat Is Back also showed some spark on the course on Wednesday. The lightly-raced Glenn Mendez three-year-old American-bred colt breezed over the same acreage in 35.79 seconds. Xian and Karzai were sent to the boxes for schooling, and the Glen Emmanuel pair of three-year-old maidens did not disappoint, showing their speed between the 1200 and 800 metres markers in 22.86 seconds. Trainer Maharaj who dominated the early juvenile events last season has this season’s “babes” well forward.
He sent three from his lot to acquaint themselves with the boxes. The son of Donnybrook and a daughter of Bob’s Passion showed their advancement in clocking 22.97 between the 1200 and 800 metre markers, while the son of Samana was a bit behind in 25.88.
