St James hospital rotting from inside

THE EDITOR: The mission statement of St James Medical Complex Hospital is to Provide and Deliver Quality Care. Instead it should read “you lucky you have a place to stay.” The present management does not know the meaning of quality care but they could manage Peter Minshall Mas Camp, for at every function you will see yards and yards of cloth hanging from ceiling to floor. Who pays for this? The wards are in dire need of equipment — (proper wheelchairs, beds, bath chairs etc) for nursing staff to provide the care to patients for which they have been trained.

The nursing administrator has no say in matters concerning nursing and seems to be afraid of the hospital administrator, who is now fondly being referred to as the Iron Lady “Mrs Thatcher” for the number of iron gates put up around her office. You could swear the Royal Jail moved. On the Male Psychiatry Ward a patient lies on a bed that came from the days of King Arthur, with a piece of board wrapped in white sheet to prevent his feet going through the bars and a dirty piece of sponge under the mattress at his head to prevent his lungs filling up with fluid. Quality nursing care right. When Gayelle shows the complex looking so nice on the outside, this is to let them know that it is rotting from the inside.
