Sell fast foods without salt, sugar
THE EDITOR: It was November 4, 2000 when I wrote a letter to the Editor, which was published, when I asked the managers of fast food outlets to consider selling food without or limited salt and drinks without sugar or artificial sweeteners. The paper was Newsday.
I also felt that people would not have complained about a dollar or two more for these foods, minus salt and sugar. I also mentioned that more than half the population are either diabetic of hypertensive and knew it. A larger number of people are not aware that they have these ailments. Well, I am happy to hear Dr Sonia Rocke making a public appeal to fast food managers to make an effort to prepare food without salt and limited sugar for some of us.
