Get aboard Alert The Ship

ALERT THE SHIP sent off some waves he is ready for his next mission in the Renault Allowance extended sprint on the Arima Race Club Emanicpation Day programme at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday. The Kenneth de Silva Jr-trained colt sailed smoothly through his final test. This American-bred Gold Alert/Turn My Ship offspring was on “dry dock” since winning over course and distance in April last,  but showed all is well in the engine room when opening throttle over the last 600 metres of the course in 36.43 seconds. Ooze was another to create a good impression in his final blowout for his engagement in the Aveo Imported two-year-old and over maiden event on Monday’s ten-race card. The Shaffique Khan-trained three-year-old has been knocking on the door since his arrival here last year. This son of Double Niner/Gold Wish chose to show off his blinding speed for which he is noted by blazing the last 600 metres of the course in 36.50 seconds.

Ooze has been found wanting in the closing stages of his races to date, and but should acquit himself well over Monday’s trip. Sunday Jewel showed up well for a long way in his last start among classic contenders, and yesterday zipped through her 600 metres spin in 36.95, and the effortless manner in which this Java In Flight/Indian Gem filly did it, suggests she could be on the upgrade. Karzai opened a lot of eyes with a stout performance behind Over And Above last raceday, and the lightly raced son of JD Gump/Shanaz showed he is going the right way by easily disposing of Regent Boy and Chief Of Staff in their spin over 800 metres. Karzai eased away from his companions up the stretch to stop the clock at 50.52 seconds, followed by Regent Boy 51.93 and Chief Of Staff, who was not asked to exert himself in the late stages of gallop, touching off in 52.72. Also doing justice over the same trip yesterday morning was Not This Time, who out clocked 49.53. Soul Asylum showed off some speed in clocking 24.61 400 metres run,  and Lady Rossie also sped over the same distance in 24.02 seconds.
