$160,000 bail for man on ‘coke’ charge
Twenty-one-YEAR-OLD Brent Thomas of Diamond Village in Claxton Bay, was on Thursday granted $160,000 bail by a San Fernando magistrate, when he appeared charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana. Thomas pleaded not guilty before Second Court Magistrate Sonia Aleong to the charges laid by WPC Persad of St Margaret’s Police Station. According to the charges, WPC Persad was on mobile patrol along Cedar Hill Road in Claxton Bay around 1 pm on Wednesday, when she allegedly saw the defendant place a blue cylindrical object in his right front pants pocket. On searching Thomas, the policewoman allegedly found 12.3 grammes of cocaine and 22 foil packets of marijuana, which weighed 77.6 grammes. Thomas was represented by attorney Frank Seepersad. He was ordered to return to court next week Wednesday.
