TT blank t- tennis opener

TRINIDAD AND Tobago’s men table-tennis players earned a 3-0 victory over St Vincent as the 44th Caribbean Table Tennis Senior Championships served off at the UWI Sport and Physical Education Centre, St Augustine yesterday morning. In another men’s Group “B” contest, Venezuela eased past Grenada 3-0 while, in Group “A”, Puerto Rico and Barbados had comfortable 3-0 wins over St Lucia and Jamaica respectively.

The opening ceremony took place last evening, with addresses from Stanley Hunte, president of the Trinidad and Tobago Table Tennis Association and Douglas Camacho, president of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC). Hunte expressed his gratitude to “our partners in sport, our sponsors, volunteers, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and all the many individuals and organisations who have in some way contributed to the success of (the) Championships.” And the TTOC head noted that “for the duration of this Championship, I challenge each individual to take on this personal obligation of fair play.”

Group “A”: Venezuela def St Vincent 3-0; Puerto Rico def Guyana 3-1.
Group “B”: Trinidad and Tobago def Grenada 3-0; Aruba def Barbados 3-1.
