Another Venezuelan held with cocaine, arms

A 27-year-old Venezuelan national was arrested and two blocks of cocaine, a 7.65 pistol and 15 rounds of ammunition seized around 2 pm on Friday. Reports revealed that officers from the Firearm Interdiction Unit (FIU) were on enquiries at Chickland Village, Freeport, when they observed a man acting in a suspicious manner. He was stopped and searched and the police allegedly found the drugs, gun and ammunition. He was taken to the Freeport Police Station where he was charged. He is expected to appear before a Chaguanas magistrate tomorrow.

In an unrelated matter, sometime around 1 am yesterday, Stephon Noel, 20, of Orange Field Road, Carapichaima, was standing on the side of the road when he became embroiled in an argument with a man who pulled out a gun from his waist and shot Noel in the left leg. Noel was treated and warded at hospital. Then around 10 am yesterday, Seeram Baldeo, 43, of Mahadeo Street, Felicity, was at his home when he had an argument with a relative over a television set. A struggle ensued and Baldeo was chopped on the head. He was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he is warded is serious condition. Cpl Aguilerra is investigating.
