Independent Senators file integrity forms

All five Independent Senators contacted by Newsday on Tuesday had either filed their Integrity in Public Life Act 2000 Forms or intended to do so by the deadline Sunday, August 15. Basharat Ali told Newsday, “I have no problems. I have filed mine already.” Likewise Tobago-based Dr Eastlyn McKenzie confirmed, “I’ve done mine. I sent it off today (Tuesday). They’ll get it by tomorrow (Wednesday.)” Others intended to soon file. Former president of the Inter Religious Organisation (IRO) Brother Noble Khan declared, “I’m hoping to make it before the deadline. If it is part of the law one should abide by it.” Similarly Parvatee Anmolsingh-Mahabir said, “Yes, I will comply within the prescribed time.” Economist Mary King also confirmed, “I haven’t filed, but it’s in the process.” Overall, the Independent Senators generally felt that other politicians would also comply.
