Impostor collecting $$ for Darrel, Marlon Brown

BEWARE of an impostor seeking to collect money in the name of Darrel Brown, now in Athens, Greece, getting ready for an assault on the 100 metres gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games. And further, the impostor has a letter circulating attempting to collect money for another young athlete Marlon Brown.

But yesterday, Winston Brown, father of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic sprinter Darrel, said in a statement “no authorisation has been given by him or his family to collect money on behalf of his son or any other athlete.” The impostor is using a letterhead, bearing the name Athletic Universal Club, and is purporting to collect money for Marlon Brown to run in the Barbados 10K from November 18-19 and the US National Cross Country on November 27. Young Marlon Brown, when contacted said, he had no intention of attending any of the events, and further stated he does not attend the ADB School in  Petit Valley. The impostor has his letter in circulation since January 2, and members of the public are asked to beware of the bearer.
