Let us search our souls
THE EDITOR: To the bandits and murderers: Do you know that you too are mortal; in other words, one day you will die. Do you know that for every life you take, every sin you commit, you must answer to God at the Judgement? Yes! There will be a Judgement when unrepentant murderers and sinners will be cast into hell where the worms do not die and the fire burns eternally. Is this where you want to spend eternity? To parents: What are you teaching your children? Do you instill in your sons the fear of God? Do you teach them from a tender age that it is sinful to rob, steal and murder? Do you teach them that the world does not owe them a living and that with ambition, determination, perseverance and honest work, they can make it in life? Do you spend time to guide them, or do you leave them rudderless, assuming that “boys will be boys?” To the Church: Are you fulfilling your mandate to go into the world and win lost souls for Christ? It is our duty to teach men to fear God and to keep His commandments.
To the Government: Are you doing enough? Why hasn’t every police officer been provided with bullet-proof vests, handcuffs, and the necessary tools to do their jobs? To the business community: Are you doing your best to improve the living standard of those less fortunate? Do you really give a fair day’s wage for an honest day’s work? To the Police Management: It is not possible to have a more heightened police presence throughout communities in Trinidad and Tobago? Is it necessary to have sometimes five police officers at street corners in Port-of-Spain? Why is it that motorists flout the law with impunity in front the police stations? To citizens: Do you know that the police do not work with spiritual divination and that they need our help to solve crimes? Do you happen to know a perpetrator? Does he perhaps live in your house? Do something about it or you too will be held culpable before God and man.
To the cynics: Do you know that negative vibrations bring about negative results? GIGO. Do you know that continuous criticisms and condemnation of the law enforcement agencies, particularly the Police, would erode their authority in the simple minds of the criminal element. Do we all realise that since the failure of the Police Reform Bill with its attendant criticisms, three policemen have been killed and others wounded? To the media: Please be careful what you highlight with sensationalism. There are repercussions! To the police: Please perform your duties with due diligence, without fear and without favour. Serve as unto God. Remember that you are a very essential service, upon whom the nation depends. Always be in prayer and be extremely vigilant. Look after yourselves. May God Bless You.
