Crime against Tobago hotel workers

THE EDITOR: As the country faces an increase in crime, which has provoked national attention, there is also an emotional, mental and stressful crime being committed today in the hotel industry at high levels in Tobago. The Ministers of Labour and Tourism must earnestly and urgently look into this matter. The workers in the sister isle must cope with daily unfair practices, oppressive behaviour, victimisation, intimidation, threats, verbal abuse, unilaterally changed (variation) working hours, draconian conduct by managers and supervisors.

To make matters worse there are unprincipled tribunals held by managers and supervisors against workers  and the workers not being represented — hence we know the outcome! These are crimes perpetrated against innocent citizens of this country. Are we going to let this continue? These workers are paid minmum wages and women are the worst victims although they are breadwinners in most cases. This is one of the greatest crimes in this country. Mr Ministers look out for your people.
