Caribbean Kiss steps up pace

Caribbean Kiss takes a step up and goes after a quick double in the Allowance feature on the Arima Race Club Day 24 card at Santa Rosa Park, Arima on Saturday. The Irish bred three-year-old filly showed off her blinding speed to capture the Mr Solo Starter Allowance event on the Carib sponsored “Evening Lime” card last Friday. She is among a cast of eight who will be vying for honours in the 1200 metres contest highlighting Saturday’s nine-race card. Dauntless Hero, who lowered her colours in their last meeting in the Santa Rosa Dash has also taken entry in the $26,000 metres sprint. The four-year-old son of Diligence/Treasure Always which followed home Invincibility in the Grade Two handicap in mid-June is among a trio of runners representing trainer Rohit Dube barn in the speed contest.

Le Fabuleux Dansur and Ghost Meadow are the other members who will try and notch another win on the belt of the title chasing trainer. The Restricted Handicap over 1300 metres and another extended sprint framed for imported two-year-olds and over maidens will act as the supporting features on the programme. The $14,000 claiming contest for West Indian bred three-year-old maidens was axed for failure to meet minimum entry requirements. The Restricted Handicap for which 11 were pencilled in at Monday’s entry stage saw two runners ducking out of yesterday’s confirmation stage, and the 1350 fray for the importations has 10 runners listed to face the starter.
