ASATT splash at Flying Fish Pool
HARDLY had George Bovell III touched the wall at the pool in Athens Greece to earn the first-ever swim medal by a Caribbean swimmer, the Amateur Swimming Association of Trinidad and Tobago have programmed a meet, geared toward the next Olympiad 2012. Under the theme “Building the Future Swimming Champions,” the association will stage their 10th Goodwill Swim Championships at the Flying Fish Pool, Jamaica Boulevard, Federation Park from today until Sunday.
Young swimmers from defending champions Suriname, which produced gold medallist Anthony Nesty, Seoul 1988, and Guyana will be challenging hosts Trinidad and Tobago. There will be an opening ceremony starting 5.30 pm today, and action will continue tomorrow from 10 am to 5 pm, ending at 10 am on Sunday. A closing ceremony is scheduled for the Chaguaramas Development Authority ballroom later.
