South principals happy with CXC, A’ Level results
THERE was an abundance of smiles and hugs from relieved students when they collected their CXC and A’ Level examination results from their respective schools in South Trinidad yesterday. Several schools recorded vast improvements, with many schools receiving over 90 percent full passes. Among those were Palo Seco Government Secondary, which was partially destroyed by fire in April. Principal Fitzgerald Geoffery said he was pleased with the results since they received 90.3 percent full passes in CXC. Principal of San Fernando Government Secondary, Ancil Balfour, said his school received 94 percent A’ Level passes in two or more subjects, including General Paper. He said teachers and parents were pleased with the results which represented an improvement from last year’s results.
Naparima Girls’ High School received 100 percent passes in all A’ Level subjects except GP, according to acting principal Fairy Lalla. Overall, 13 students got four As and 18 received three As. Lalla added she was pleased with the results and congratulated all the pupils and teachers. Principal of Presentation College, Errol Jaikarsingh, said the number of “ones” received in O’ Level subjects was “striking” — 95 “ones” in English, 51 “ones” in Physics and 81 “ones” in Mathematics. Jaikarsingh said they were still tabulating the A’ Level results, but it seemed very good. When contacted, officials of other schools said they were satisfied with their results, but were busy tabulating and giving out results to the pupils.
