Miss Lover Lover gets Allowance vote

MISS LOVER LOVER has benefitted from a short rest and could bounce back to winning ways in the Allowance feature on the Arima Race Club Day 24 card at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, today. The daughter of Friendly Lover/Winning Spurs has raced consistently among the top bracket over varied distances during the past year, but still managed to score the odd victory whenever enjoying a drop in class. Today’s Allowance event over 1200 metres represents exactly that, but though the race is devoid of the crack sprinters of the upper echelon it still has a few speedsters of note in this five-horse field, depleted by the three runners from trainer Rohit Dube stable which have failed the ‘vet’ examination yesterday. The four-year-old with a Stewards Cup placing against her name will not be inconvenienced by those setting the early fractions, since she is also blessed with enough juice to stay in touch, essential in such a contest.

She was also reported to have bled in her last start and the use of first time Lasix, together with her two-kilo claim by leading apprentice Gary Laban puts her smack in the picture to get the job done. Fortunate Flag and Dauntless Hero have both finished ahead of Miss Lover Lover in the past and should again provide the main opposition, but both are also worse off at the weights. But Miss Lover Lover should leave the rest to fight out the finish for the runner-up spot, as Porto Cervo, a debutant has not done anything at exercises to suggest he can match up. Ooze only recently turned in his maiden certificate after nine starts and that doesn’t say much for his chances here. Lit D’Amour has shown some rougish tendencies in the past, but the Glenn Mendez-trained colt did not show anything of the sort in his last start, after starting a shade slowly, and looks ripe for the picking in the Restricted Handicap, the supporting event on today’s nine-race programme.
