Sam scores in Wrexham thriller

LONDON:  Trinidad and Tobago international Hector Sam scored as Wrexham beat Hull in a penalty shoot-out in a thrilling Carling Cup football match yesterday. Sam, who has scored a hat-trick in the League already this season, put Wrexham in front in the 14th minute with a brilliantly headed goal from the centre of the penalty area, after a cross from the right wing.

By the 66th minute however, the score was locked 2-2 and the match went into penalties as the deadlock remained after full time and 30 minutes of extra-time. Sam was not around for the shoot-out, having been substituted in the 78th minute.
