Trini killed in Tobago crash
A young Trinidadian woman died instantly early yesterday morning when the car in which she was driving slammed into a parked vehicle along Milford Road. Patricia Williams, 29, of Pinto Road Arima, became Tobago’s fifth road fatality for the year, and the second Trinidadian to be reported dead in as many days. According to police reports, Andelle Phillips of Plymouth, was driving a white Honda Civic car east along Milford Road, when he tried to “negotiate a drive” between two parked vehicles and slammed into a van parked on the pavement in front of the Kaiso Club in Canaan, around 3.20 am.
Williams was thrown from the car and died instantly, but Phillips was unhurt. It is believed that the pair was returning from the weekly Baker’s Tobago Scouting For Talent competition at the Golden Star when the accident occurred. A party of officers attached to Crown Point Police Station visited the scene along with District Medical Officer (DMO) Ayatunde Akindele who ordered the body’s removal to the Scarborough Hospital Mortuary. Acting Cpl Edwards, attached to the Crown Point Police Station, is continuing investigations. In an unrelated incident, Twenty-five-year old John Murray of Woodbrook, who was living at Bethel, was found floating in the waters at Turtle Beach by a tourist around 2:35 pm on Wednesday. His body bore no marks of violence, and a preliminary examination indicated that death was due to drowning. Investigations are continuing.
