‘Flour’ b-ballers rip Defence Force

NATIONAL Flour Mills moved one step closer to retaining their title in the North Zone Basketball Commission League, when they ripped Defence Force 63-53 in Game One of their best-of-three final at the St Paul Street Multi-Purpose Facility. The defending champions played a solid defensive game with only Ashley “Dr Dunk” Bynoe scoring in double figures.  He had 12 points in Wednesday’s game. Mervyn Headley led the Army-Coast Guard men with 12 points and Stephen Lewis added 10. The teams meet in Game Two on Sunday at the same venue from 5.30 pm. In the women best-of-three series ex-WNBA player Pietra Gay led Courts Horizon with 29 points as they clobbered Defence Force 74-57. Chezelle Griffith added 20 points Rachael Thompson-King had 11, while centre Alicia Liverpool had 21 points, Sojourner “Suzie” Hyles contributed 11and Clarissa Caine 10. Action in Game Two is scheduled for Sunday from 4 pm.
