Tigers, Malick battle to 0-0 draw
THE “Tigers” St Anthony’s, defending national school champs, and Malick battled to a goalless draw in the second match of a doubleheader at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo yesterday. Action was in the North Zone of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) which got underway yesterday. And Serano Glen, brother of national striker Cornell Glen, notched the first hat-trick of the season as Mucurapo crushed QRC 5-0 in the day’s opener.
Meanwhile, the South Zone also began yesterday at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella with Pleasantville and Princes Town playing to an exciting 3-3 draw while St Benedict’s and two-time zonal winners Naparima were locked in battle up to press time last night. Matches will continue in the North, South and East Zones from 4 pm today, with Fatima opening their North Zone campaign against Tranquility at the Fatima College Ground while Morvant/Laventille and St Mary’s will face off at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. In the South Zone, Mayaro will host Vessigny at the Mayaro Recreation Ground while Fyzabad will oppose Moruga at Fyzabad. And, in the East Zone, El Dorado will host debutants Valencia while San Juan will square off against Hillview at Bourg Mulatresse.
