Big Tigers test for Mucurapo today

MUCURAPO Senior, who thrashed QRC 5-0 in their opening North Zone fixture of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL), will face their first major test when they meet two-time champs St Anthony’s at Fatima Ground today. A full slate of matches in the North and South Zones will be contested today from 4 pm. St Anthony’s, more commonly known as the “Westmoorings Tigers”, were held to a goalless draw by Malick on Friday last, and will be looking to get their season on track against Mucurapo, who are under the guidance of former national captain Selris Figaro.

The Royalians will try to atone for their setback when they host Morvant/Laventille at the QRC Ground; St Mary’s will square off against Fatima at the CIC Ground, St Clair; while Malick will oppose newcomers Tranquillity at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. South Zone leaders Princes Town will vie for their second successive win, against Vessigny at the Mahaica Oval while Mayaro will also be seeking another triumph when they travel to the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, to meet defending Zonal winners Naparima. In other South Zone fixtures, Fyzabad will face off against St Benedict’s at Fyzabad while Moruga will welcome Plesantville to its Otis Memorial Park venue.
