Ministry says pay workers for ‘Ivan’ day
THE MINISTRY of Labour, is calling on employers to ensure that all employees are paid for September 7, the day when all citizens were advised to stay at home by Prime Minister Patrick Manning as well as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) because of the threat posed to the country by Hurricane Ivan. It was brought to the attention of the Ministry that some employees who did not report for duty on that day were not paid by their employers. As such, the Ministry is calling on employes, in the tradition of good industrial practice, to ensure that these employees are paid although they did not report for work.
