Headless corpse found in Charlieville
THE HEADLESS and armless body of a man was discovered in a drain at Sumaria Trace, Charlieville around 9 am yesterday. The nude body bore gunshot wounds to the chest. Late yesterday, tracker dogs were used in an unsuccessful search for the missing head and limbs of the unidentified man. At around 8.15 am yesterday, Dolly Kimraj and her son, Rajnath, of Sumaria Trace were on their way to the Chaguanas market, when they saw the body lying in a drain. They alerted E-999 and officers, lead by ASP John Millet, Insp Hubert Kirk, Ag Sergeant Ajith Persad, and Ag Cpl Balchan Salick, together with DMO Dr Ray Choudry, went to the scene along with crime scene and homicide officers.
The man is believed to have been killed sometime on Saturday night. He is believed to be of African descent, brown skinned, about 5’ 9” and could be in his early 20s. The body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre, where an autopsy will be conducted today. Police believe the murder was a revenge killing due to the manner in which the man was killed. Officers are checking missing persons records in an attempt to identify the man. Residents of Sumaria Trace expressed shock over the brutal murder, and are concerned that the murderers dumped the body in their area. Chaguanas Police are investigating.
