Rahael receives new ambulances
HEALTH MINISTER John Rahael will receive a fleet of new ambulances for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) tomorrow at 11 am at the Vehicle Maintenance Company of Trinidad and Tobago’s headquarters at 22 Beetham Gardens, Beetham Highway. Under former health minister Colm Imbert, government signed an agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to provide the EMS with 40 brand new ambulances. Seven of these ambulances were given to the EMS earlier this year.
In July, Rahael said the remaining 33 ambulances had arrived in TT and were being prepared for handover to the EMS. The agreement with the UNDP to provide these ambulances also includes provisions for maintenance of the ambulances and the training of its personnel. Tomorrow’s handover is considered to be an important initiative in government’s health sector reform programme for TT. Rahael said government had completed 60 percent of that programme.
