Maraval mom, son were choked and smothered

Post-mortem results performed by Dr Hughvon des Vignes on the bodies of Maraval grocery owner Jasso Maharaj, and her son Ramnarine, confirmed they were choked and then smothered to death. Police sources confirmed the results indicate the mother and son were choked first to get information about where money was hidden, before being smothered to death with pillows.

Jasso, 75, and Ramnarine, 55, were found dead in a bedroom of their Saddle Road home in Maraval last Thursday morning. The house was ransacked and police found two crocus bags filled with household items and groceries which the killer(s) left behind. Police suspect the killers are two men who were seen lurking in the area sometime before midnight. The victims, owners of Pappys Prams-Mini Mart and Grocery, were found tied up and gagged and also beaten.
