Time to adopt laws of the jungle
THE EDITOR: Please publish this as an open letter to the Minister of National Security. I am inspired by the appeal made by the President of Trinidad and Tobago to the Trinidad Police Force to rescue our twin island country. As a result, I forward this simple solution to the crime situation. Call an emergency meeting of Parliament, draft a law whereby in the case of kidnapping, rape and murder, the culprit should be placed against a wall in public and shot to death by a firing squad, without trial the next day.
In the case of robbery with violence and blackmail, both hands of the culprit must be cut off below the elbow in public, no trial. These harsh measures are practised in China, with success. Sir, this is a copy of a letter I wrote to you before. So let’s stop pussy footing and practise an eye for an eye! We are now living in a jungle, let’s pass jungle laws.
