Arima man charged with PH driver’s murder
A 26-year-old man who was held for the beating death of PH driver Rajesh Beepath was charged yesterday for the murder. Beepath, 32, was plying his car for hire in Arima around 10 pm on August 29, when he was confronted by two men who hijacked him. He was beaten on the head with a gun butt and thrown out of his car in Cumuto. The bleeding Beepath was found by a passer-by who took him to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, but he died on Saturday.
After extensive investigations by Insp Johnny Abraham, Samuel Bullein, Cpls Eric Parks, WP Thalia Francis and PC Wendell Lucas, a 26-year-old man of ByPass Road in Arima was arrested. He was interrogated and Director of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson yesterday gave instructions to the police to lay a charge of murder against the man. The charge was laid by Cpl Eric Parks.
