PRESENTATION College of Chaguanas hammered Marabella Junior Secondary 8-0 at Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, yesterday when action in the Central Zone of the BG Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools Football League got underway. Marvin Manswell revelled in the slippery conditions, with the young striker netting four goals for “Pres”. Deon Lewis smashed in two and Anthony Goddard and Reon Pegus got one each for the winners.
A top-of-the-table East Zone contest between leaders St Augustine and hosts El Dorado will hold centre stage today. Matches in all five zones will be contested from 4 o’clock, with the exception of a South Zone double-header at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella from 3 pm. South Zone leaders Moruga will oppose defending champions Naparima followed by the clash between the struggling St Benedict’s and Pleasantville. Mayaro will square off against Princes Town and, at the Mahaica Oval, Vessigny will meet Fyzabad. In the East, the “Green Machine” St Augustine hold a three-point lead over El Dorado, and will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run against the in-form “Blue Thunder”.
Reigning Zonal champs Arima will square off against Hillview at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna; Valencia will host St George’s while the winless Barataria will face San Juan at Barataria. Mucurapo will be vying for their fourth successive victory in the North Zone when they meet second-placed Fatima at the Fatima Ground while “The Tigers” St Anthony’s will be looking to hand Morvant/Laventille their fourth defeat in a row. Also on the agenda today will be two matches in the St Clair district — the clash between QRC and Malick at the Royalians Ground, and the Tranquillity-St Mary’s match at the CIC Ground.
In the Central Zone, Tabaquite will welcome Carapichaima to their home ground in Tabaquite with Union Claxton Bay playing their first match of the season against Chaguanas Senior at the Ato Boldon Stadium. And the Tobago Zone will get going today, with 2003 winners Signal Hill meeting hosts Roxborough while Scarborough will oppose Elizabeth’s at Shaw Park.
