Govia hat-trick as Parkites blank Chinese

RAPHAEL GOVIA recorded a hat-trick as Queen’s Park held off a determined Chinese outfit 6-4 in the Men’s Division of the Colfire Chinese Invitational Indoor Hockey Tournament, at the Chinese Association Hall, St Ann’s. Peter Kam, Azad Ali and Nicholas Govia were also on target for the Parkites, who held a 2-1 lead at the half-time interval. Ryan Marchock and Dominic Young netted two goals apiece for Chinese.

The Chinese’s Under-35 men’s team were also on the losing end on Thursday night, as they were beaten 3-2 by Fatima. Alan Young got a double for Fatima with Richard Downie adding the other, while Roger Chin scored both items for Chinese. Mickel Pierre scored a pair and Ryan Lezama added one as Malvern overcame Paragon 3-1 in the men’s Under-21 category. Nigel Noel netted the consolation strike for Paragon. But Paragon’s Under-21 women earned a measure of respectability for their club, as they strolled past Ventures 3-0, with Vhenise Elliott scoring twice and Avion Aston the other.
