Cancer patient commits suicide

A 77-year-old cancer patient committed suicide yesterday by shooting himself in the head. Reports revealed that around 8.10 am yesterday, a gunshot was heard from the Belmont Valley Road home of Sebastian Latchu. A check was made and Latchu was found in a pool of blood. His licensed 16-guage shotgun was found next to the body.

Relatives of the dead man told police investigators that Latchu was suffering from depression, and three weeks ago he was advised by doctors to desist from smoking. This further aggravated his depression, they said. The body was viewed by a District Medical Officer and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre.
