Sir Ellis Clarke injured in attack

Former president Sir Ellis Clarke was mugged and injured by a group of men as he was about to leave his Maraval home to attend a function at the School of Continuing Studies Book Launch - “The Life Of Nesta Bonaparte Patrick, A Truely Caribbean Woman” at University of the West Indies, St Augustine, yesterday. According to chairman of the function Dr Lennox Bernard, Sir Ellis was due to deliver the feature address but was not able to attend the function because he was attacked by a group of men. Reports reaching Sunday Newsday indicated that Sir Ellis’ jacket was torn and he was also robbed of cash and sustained minor injuries in the incident. Police are investigating the matter.
