Parkites move up to challenge Orie
QUEEN’S PARK moved into a challenge position in this year’s Media 21-sponsored Northern Football Association Premier Division, following a 5-0 drubbing of Maraval Youth Academy. Ricardo Almandoz scored a double for the Parkites in Saturday’s match at their Oval home ground, while Bryan Cumberbatch, George Busby and Maurice Simpson got the other goals. On Thursday, Queen’s Park dispatched Superstar Rangers 3-1, with Simpson scoring a double and Busby, the other goal. Corneal Thomas got the consolation.
The Parkites are now fourth on the standings behind leaders Media Net Orie, who after being held 2-2 by St Francois Nationals on Thursday last, whipped Superstar Rangers 4-1 on Sunday with Devon Thomas and Garvin Gulston both scoring twice. Corneal Thomas netted for Rangers. Maple climbed the ladder to sixth with two victories, getting a hat-trick from Kevon Frederick to beat Fire Service 3-1 on Wednesday last, then receiving full points when Cocorite United defaulted their match on Sunday.
