Coaches praise standard in FCB Cup football final

REYNOLD CARRINGTON and Kerry Jamerson, two former national defensive midfielders and current head coaches of W Connection and Defence Force respectively, have praised their teams’ performances at the final of the First Citizens Bank (FCB) Cup. Connection won 3-2 on penalty kicks after both teams battled to a 2-2 draw after regulation time at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella on Friday night. “It was a hard-fought match,” said Carrington. “Defence Force came out and they really worked hard.

“They fought the match and took it to penalty kicks,” Carrington continued. “But fortunately, we came out winners and I’m very happy for the team.” Jamerson was also pleased with his team’s display on the night, as they fought from a goal down to equalise in either half of regulation time. “What we did was stick to our game plan throughout the 90 minutes,” noted the former Strike Squad representative. “I (thought) we had the better of the match football-wise but the early goals are what made a difference, both in the first half and the second half against us.” Both coaches conceded that fitness was a major factor in Friday night’s match but, that aside, they are both looking forward to the TT Pro League crown.
