Coast Guard sail up front in East
COAST GUARD edged Shoe Locker Young Hearts 2-1 to move within one point of leaders WASA Clean and White. This is in the race for the Arthur “Jap” Brown Memorial Trophy in the Emerald Apartments and Plaza-sponsored Eastern Football Association. Lawrence Thomas and Dwayne Alzola scored one goal each to ensure victory for the seamen, while Keion Wilson got the Young Hearts goal in their match at St Joseph Recration Ground. But Athletico Sports Institute eked out a 2-1 win over the seamen in a re-scheduled match on Tuesday at Aranguez Savannah.
Clint Raymond and Patrick Toussaint gave Athletico victory. Dwayne Alzola got the lone goal for Coast Guard. Leaders WASA were held to a 3-3 draw by Malta Carib Alcons at their WASA ground, St Joseph. Joel Fraser scored twice and Nigel Smith got the other for WASA, while Richard Williams, Damian Cooper and Cordell Lucas were scorers for Alcons. Falcon Crest stayed close behind the leaders after a 1-1 draw with TSTT at St Augustine Senior Comprehensive Ground.
Nigel Reyes netted for the telecommunications men and Lester Richards got the equaliser. In other matches, East/West Coaching School whipped HCL Strikers 5-3 at Squadron Ground, Arouca. Kirk Blanche scored a hat-trick and Mano John and Wayne Duncan hit the other goals for the winners. Don Harry got two and Michael Charles the other for Strikers. And a lone Dorian Robinson goal gave Joe Public full points over BM Spurs at San Juan Secondary School ground.
