Carib gives $50,000 to junior builders
MALTA CARIB has pumped $50,000 into the 9th Malta Carib National Junior Body Building Championships carded for October 17 at the St Mary’s College Auditorium, Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain. This event is expected to provide an avenue for young men and women to become involved in the sport, according to Carib Brewery non-alcoholic brand manager Fayola Nicholas. The 2004 championships which will feature the Ms Body Fitness joining the men and women bodybuilding, Ms Fitness and audience pose down competitions to make this edition full of competitive spirit and even more entertaining than previous years, was launched at Carib Brewery, Champs Fleurs yesterday.
Nicholas noted, “the championships will showcase some of the new and aspiring local talent, who will one day represent Trinidad and Tobago at international level.” She expressed anticipation of the rise of another great young body builder in the vein of Darrem Charles, and wished competitors the best of luck at the championships. Trinidad and Tobago Body Builders Federation president Susanna Hadad said 35 to 40 bodybuilders are expected to compete in seven categories — Ms Body Fitness, Ms Fitness, Women, Open and Men’s Bodybuilding Light, Middle, Light Heavy and Heavyweight categories.
Contestants in the Ms Body Fitness competition will be judged on fitness and definition, while maintaining a degree of femininity. The Ms Fitness competition will involve competitors performing a fitness routine and also a swimsuit pose down. Pre-judging starts at 10 am on competition day and action starts at 7 pm. Tickets are priced at $60 advance and $70 at the door, and will be available at all gyms and federation members.
