Road death victim went to buy mauby

Two days after celebrating his 32nd birthday, a Penal man was killed while walking along a road near his home on Friday evening. Reports reveal Abrahim Mackhan, a URP labourer, of Rochard Road, was attempting to cross the road at Boodhan Trace Junction shortly after 6 pm when he was struck by a car heading east along Penal Rock Road. Relatives of the deceased said he left home around 4 pm having returned from work an hour earlier and headed to a grocery about a mile away. “He went to buy mauby and snacks for home,” his stepmother Mohanie recalled. The deceased’s father, Ralph, 68, said he would not hold a grudge against the driver of the car which struck his son. “My son done dead already. I still have to maintain a good relationship with the people around here.

I can’t determine who was right and who was wrong in the accident. I have to let the Lord determine that,” the father said. Even as the elder Mackhan spoke about his son, he recalled another loss to the family, that of his 17-year-old daughter Nisha Mackhan some ten years ago. Nisha disappeared after she left home at Platinique Trace, Barrackpore, to attend classes in North Trinidad. Reports indicate she was last seen at the Curepe bus terminus. Her father said she was kidnapped along the Priority Bus Route at Orange Grove. Investigations into her disappearance have turned up empty. “God give me good constitution to deal with these things,” the father said.
