WI women cricketers in W/Cup camp
WEST INDIES women cricketers begin preparation for the Women World Cup from today at the Sir Frank Worrell Development Centre, Balmain, Couva. The World Cup series will be held in South Africa in March next year. A 20-member squad team will enter a West Indies Women’s Cricket Federation camp which ends on October 24. This camp will be conducted by coach Ann Browne-John, West Indies Cricket Board coaching manager Darren Holder, West Indies Cricket Board territorial development officer Kumar Rampath and Trinidad coach Jasmine Sammy.
The 20-member squad includes: Stephanie Power (capt), Shane De Silva, Indomatie Goordial, Felicia Cummings, Geneille Greaves, Nelly Williams, Jade Chadee, Pamela Lavine, Cordell Jack, Debbie Ann Lewis, Anisa Mohammed, Verena Felicien, Jacqueline Robinson, Juliana Nero, Kirbyina Alexander, Philippa Thomas, Nadine George, Doris Francis, Envis illiams, Melissa Bellingy. Browne-John and Holder will assume charge of the camp as the team of administrators impart technical knowledge in all areas of the game and participate in personal development sessions. The women cricketers will also play three trial games against Under-17 and Under-19 men teams. The first of these games will be tomorrow, with the others scheduled for Sunday and October 23. The team is managed by Cinda Bob, while Neil Lashley is the Physiotherapist/Trainer. From 2 pm today, there will be a media briefing with members of the squad at the TTCB facility at the Queen’s Park Oval.
